Spend a little more, and you get the giant vertical infotainment system right from the Mustang Mach-E. It also gets a normal mechanical shifter, rather than the fancy turn-dial gear selector. The work truck-grade Pro model is quite literally a work truck through and through, right down to the vinyl seats. However, the way your F-150 Lightning's interior will look may depend a lot on the trim level you go for. ![]() ![]() The F-150 Lightning's interior is sufficiently different compared to the gas-powered F-150 models. With all of that, the F-150 still remains stately and nice to drive, just like the gas-powered F-150. If you use a public DC charger, you can top up to 80% in around 44 minutes. One of the most impressive things about the F-150 Lightning is its ability to act as a generator it can power a house for up to three days. Payload capacity is from 1,800 lbs to 2,000 lbs, again, depending on the battery. The towing capacity is slightly disappointing at 10,000 lbs, and you need the larger battery for that. The F-150 Lightning's MPGe ratings aren't that good, but it's a big heavy pickup truck, so that's expected. The torque figure is even more impressive, as no matter which battery you get, you have 775 lb-ft of torque. That means the F-150 Lightning has even more power than the current Raptor. ![]() The standard 98 kWh battery gives you around 452 hp, whereas the larger battery offers up an impressive 580 hp. The bigger 131 kWh battery doesn't just improve the range figure, it also significantly improves performance. Every F-150 Lightning gets dual motors and AWD as standard, and they all offer two different battery pack sizes. It's important to note, however, that while those trucks cater more to the lifestyle crowd, the F-150 Lightning is still a pickup truck at its core, just one that happens to be electric. The F-150 Lightning offers most of the same trim levels as the regular F-150, and it competes with the likes of the seemingly unrivaled GMC Hummer EV, the Rivian R1T, and the promised Tesla Cybertruck, which will apparently hit the market in 2023. The charge port on the left side and the connected taillights seal the deal for the Lightning's exterior. ![]() The Lightning features a slew of unique alloy wheel designs, as well as Lightning badges on the truck bed. The headlights are also substantially different compared to the regular F-150, and the running light components are much bigger. Atop the "grille," there's a light bar that connects the headlights. Visually, the Lightning has some features that distinguish it from the regular F-150. Even then, it's more than likely the Lightning will eventually replace the gas-powered F-150. It's important to note that the Lightning doesn't completely replace the gas-powered, but rather Ford is offering it alongside the regular F-150 for the time being. The Blue Oval promised an electric truck for years, and now, it's finally here. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is the first ever battery powered Ford pickup truck.
